Part II of this book is devoted to the exploration of Krishnamurti’s teachings and of various fundamental questions of our life in the light of those teachings

Right Living in Modern Society

This book is a verbatim record of Lectures delivered in India as well as the Netherlands about major issues facing Modern Society. They reveal that the issues are deeply connected with the state of our individual consciousness and cannot be cured by merely restructuring society, its laws and economy. What is in our consciousness, projects itself in our relationships and millions of such relationships constitute society. Therefore the real crisis lies in our consciousness and education must take up the challenge of transforming human consciousness by creating a new mind which can discern what is true from what is false. Such learning is different from book-learning and leads to self-knowledge which is the key to wisdom. J.Krishnamurti pointed out the way this can be done and the schools started by him are trying to carry out that vision. We discuss the difficulties faced in doing so.

Science and Spirituality

Science and Spirituality have been two complimentary quests for truth in two different aspects of our life. Unfortunately spirituality has been mistaken for religion and belief, which are not acceptable to science. Science is our quest for understanding the order that manifests in the external world around us and Spirituality is our quest for discovering order in the inner world of our consciousness as virtue, by eliminating the disorder caused by the negative emotions like anger, jealousy, hatred, fear etc. A lot of the disorder is caused by illusions in our mind which can be ended by discerning what ir true and what is false or unreal. Such learning leads to self-knowledge, which is the key to wisdom. Both inquiries need to be promoted in education so that a student is able to grow both in knowledge and in wisdom thereby creating a mind that is both efficient and humane. Knowledge lends power and ability which can be used destructively if there is no wisdom. Therefore Science without wisdom goes wrong.This book shows how we can grow both in knowledge and in goodness by promoting both science and spirituality as two complimentary inquiries into truth.
